Kafka Project Magical Mystery Literary History Tour

Tour Dates: September 9-18, 2016 Prague, Krakow & Berlin

Congratulations! You are about to embark on the trip of a lifetime, the opportunity to follow in the footsteps of Franz Kafka and Dora Diamant, as Kathi Diamant, author of the award-winning biography Kafka's Last Love and director of the SDSU Kafka Project, leads you on a ten-day European sleuthing adventure to Prague, Krakow, and Berlin, three Kafka Project Research centers.

Cost & Arrangements:
  • Because of the exclusive and intimate nature of this trip, registration is limited and will be on a first-come, first-served basis (determined by payment of deposit and signed Registration Agreement). You are encouraged to register ASAP to guarantee availability.
  • The itinerary above has been meticulously planned for your enjoyment. However, the agenda may be subject to change at the Kafka Project’s discretion and/or availability and will not alter the terms of this Agreement.
  • Cost for the tour is $3,985.00 (US) per person, based on double occupancy. Single supplement for a private room is $985. All early bird specials ($200 off per person, double occupancy, plus $100 off single supplement) end on September 9, 2015.
  • Registration is not finished until a completed registration form and a $350 nonrefundable deposit are received by the Kafka Project. Payment may be made by credit card on our website at (PayPal processing fee will apply) or by check payable to Kafka Project and mailed to P.O. Box 16750, San Diego, CA 92176.
  • A second payment of one-half of the remaining balance is due no later than February 1, 2016.
  • Final payment is due by August 1, 2016. After final payment no refunds will be issued. Trip cancellation and interruption insurance is strongly recommended and available through most travel agencies.
  • We reserve the right to cancel the tour should the minimum number of Travelers not be reached, or in the event of unforeseen emergency, or in the event of acts of war or acts of God that may deem travel unsafe. In any of those instances, the $350 deposit shall be fully refundable.
  • Airfare or other transportation to Prague and from Berlin is not included; it is strongly recommended that you not make your flight reservations unless and until we have reached our tour minimum or unless you have travel insurance that covers the possibility of cancellation.
  • A current passport is required for travel with six months remaining before expiration (after September 18, 2016). This is the responsibility of Traveler, and failure to do so that prohibits travel will not result in a tour refund. No visas are currently required for Germany, Poland or the Czech Republic.
  • The Kafka Project, Kathi Diamant, and Regency Travel are not responsible for any costs or expenses the Traveler may incur in the event of tour cancellation, as this is the purpose of travel insurance.
  • Traveler is responsible for arranging for international medical insurance in the event of medical emergency during the tour; if Traveler has medical conditions and/or medications that tour operator should be aware of, it is the Traveler’s responsibility to list those medications/conditions below.
  • If Traveler has special dietary needs, those must be made known in writing prior to the tour; we will make best efforts to accommodate those special needs, but we have no control over the local offerings of a foreign country.
  • It is strongly recommended that Traveler arrange for foreign currency exchanges and monetary necessities prior to travel or at the airport upon arrival, as currency exchange facilities may be limited or unavailable during the tour.

  • Nine nights lodging: three each in Berlin, Krakow, and Prague; breakfast every day; welcome reception, three hosted lunches and three hosted dinners; all local tour land transportation, arrival and departure transfers from and to airport or train station, specialized private English-language sightseeing tours in each city with museum admissions; author travel; small intimate group size; local Kafka experts in each city; donation to the Kafka Project; signed copy of first edition Kafka's Last Love ; and the experience of a lifetime.

Not Included:
  • Airfare or Transportation to Prague/from Berlin, trip cancellation or interruption insurance, any meals not listed, all personal expenses, (including but not limited to laundry, phone charges, beverages/alcohol not included with meals, souvenirs, internet service, and other incidentals) any tours, admission fees, transportation, etc . not included on tour itinerary, international medical and emergency insurance.


Neither the Kafka Project nor Kathi Diamant are responsible for any damages, loss, theft, or additional charges to the room, all of which must be settled directly between the undersigned guest and the tour hotels, nor for any damages, loss, and thefts incurred during the trip.

The Kafka Project is the official search for a lost literary treasure: 35 letters and 20 notebooks written by Franz Kafka in the last year of his life, and confiscated from Dora Diamant by the Gestapo in Berlin 1933.
